Dr. Fred Brill will return to the Lafayette School District effective September 1. Dr. Brill served as Principal at Stanley Middle School for 9 years during the period 1993 to 2005. Since that time, Dr. Brill has served as a Network Executive Officer for the Oakland Unified School District. The Lafayette School District Governing Board said Dr. Brill “first provided leadership to 15 elementary school principals and then later to 10 middle school principals” while in Oakland. Dr. Brill began his educational career as an English teacher. In 2006, he received an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of California, Berkeley.
After Dr. Tom resigned at the end of the school year, the Lafayette School District wasted no time in its search for a new Superintendent. Lafayette School District Governing Board President Stephenie Teichman said “The Governing Board was aware of Dr.Tom's intention to resign prior to his public announcement. As a result, the Board was able to make some preparations in advance with our search consultants, Hazard, Young and Attea (HYA), in order to most effectively utilize the summer months when candidates are intuitively thinking about making a fresh start.”
President Teichman indicated there were dozens of applicants for the Superintendent position. She indicated that they narrowed the search and “six very strong applicants were granted interviews, and subjected to extensive reference and background checks. Following more than forty hours of interviews and deliberations by the Board, Dr. Brill was selected as the strongest candidate.” Teichman said “It is lagniappe for our community that Dr. Brill's prior association with Stanley Middle School and the District will allow him to transition smoothly into his new role as Superintendent.” |
