The Lafayette-Moraga Youth Association (LMYA) held its first ever Commissioner's Cup All-Star Soccer games on Saturday, November 15 at the Campolindo field. Teams from Moraga and Lafayette competed against each other in a bit of neighborly rivalry. Players were nominated to the teams by their regular season coaches.
"The All-Star Cup was a success with outstanding competition and sportsmanship; the level of play exceeded both Bill Wahl's (Lafayette Commissioner) and my expectations," reported Moraga Soccer Commissioner Harry Crouch, III.
Wahl commented, "Every game was a nail-biter! Not one game was a runaway, and it was amazing to watch the skill levels and intensity ramp up with each age group." Crouch added, "The games were competitive and exciting to watch -- two games ended in ties so the outcomes were decided by penalty kicks."
Crouch said that the feedback he received from coaches, players and fans was very positive and he is looking forward to the 2nd Annual Commissioner's All-Star Cup. "I hope this will inspire lots of kids in the coming years," concluded Wahl.
