| Published December 24th, 2008 | Willow Spring Wraps! | Submitted by Zach Diestler | | Photo submitted | Over 200 people came from all over the Lamorinda community to help at Willow Spring Church's Fifth Annual "Wrapping Party for the Bay Area Rescue Mission in Richmond."
Girl Scout troops, high school students, church members, "Opportunity Knocks" a service group from Stanley Middle School, even representatives from Clean Cleaners, and many others wrapped over sixty lawn bags full of toys for needy children of all ages. Included in the toys - over 2,000 beanie babies! The Rescue Mission will deliver the wrapped gifts on Christmas Day, and serve a holiday meal.
Even Santa came by to wrap and hand out candy. The church has been hosting this event for five years under the direction of Debra Anderson from the Rescue Mission. A jazz band put together by Sammy and Joe Barton and a generous assortment of pizza, cider and cookies kept the volunteers moving at a brisk pace.
