Majors Division, April 13–25
Yankees 5 Cardinals 1
Johnny O’Malley’s inside-the-park homer led the Yankees to a tight victory at Buckeye Field. Ben Miller, Will Brueckner, and Devin Regan also provided run-scoring hits for the bombers. Recent AAA call-up Max Burdock got the Cardinals only hit and Jack Brydon pitched two shutout innings for the Redbirds.
Cubs 6 Red Sox 1
Scotty Fox and Alexie Shurtz each had 3 hits to lead the Cubs. Shurtz drove in 4 runs and Kaj Simonsen, Ryan Leamy, and recent AAA call-up Justin Plummer also contributed hits to the Cubbies cause. Grant Jackson pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings to close the game. The Red Sox pitching was led by a good outing from Dylan Foster. Matt Jorgensen had a hit and reached base twice, while Grant Vogel scored the lone Red Sox run.
Angels 7 A’s 6
The Angels jumped out to a 7-0 lead and then withstood a furious A’s comeback. For the winners, Grant Young had 3 hits and pitched lights out 3 innings, Doug Nimura had 2 hits, 3 RBI and closed the door with a shutdown 6th. Chad Johnson and Josh Goodell added hard hit doubles to the fence for the Angels. The A's comeback was fueled by RBI base hits from Jake Bequette, Chris Hansen, Cameron Dunmire and Jake Berry, who pitched two scoreless frames to give the A's an opportunity for the comeback.
Cubs 7 Dodgers 0
Drew Ventrelle led the way for the Cubs at the plate and on the mound, going 3 for 3 with a three-run homer to straight-away center, and pitching three scoreless to combine with Alexie Shurtz and Tom Henderson for the shutout. Also contributing hits for the Cubs were Will McCandless, Leo Barakos, Jake Rowley, Alexander Grace, Henderson, Kaj Simonsen and Scotty Fox. For the Dodgers, Jesse Longchamps doubled and struck out 4 in 2 and 1/13 innings, and recent call-ups Matty Vicencio and Seppi Ortman banged out hits in their majors debut.
Giants 7 Cardinals 3
The Giants broke a 3-3 tie in the top of the 7th to win a thriller in one extra frame. Michael Rodolari was 3 for 3 on the day with a single, double and triple. Harrison Joy, Mathew Barr and Rodolari each delivered clutch hits in the 7th to spark the winning rally. On the mound, Gavin Thatcher and Jack Cassidy combined for 4 1/3 shutout innings. Casey Harrington starred for the Cardinals, going 3 for 3, and pitching two shutout innings. Harrington and Chrsto Collett both turned in defensive gems, Collett robbing Giant Adam Remotto of a homerun with an over-the-fence catch.
Angels 5 Yankees 4
Max Flower, rounding in to shape after an early season injury, led the Angels to victory in a tightly contested game that saw each team tally 7 hits and 4 walks. Flower went 3 for 3 and scored 3 runs for the Halos, who also got two doubles and 3 RBI from Tommy Nimura. The Yankees were led by the clutch hitting of Ben Salquist, Will Brueckner, Devin Regan and Ryan Cardiff.
Cubs 6 Yankees 5
Alexie Shurtz went deep again and Tom Henderson played great defense behind the plate to lead the Cubs. The Cubs also got hits from Kaj Simonsen, Scotty Fox, Drew Ventrelle, Alexander Grace, Will McCandless, and Leo Barakos. Ventrelle threw 2 1/3 shutout innings and Fox closed out the tight game for the Cubs on the mound. Grace made 3 run-saving catches in the field, including the final out. Will Brueckner had a hit, scored two runs, and threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings for the Yankees. The Yanks also got hits from John O'Malley, Jack Thoren, and Ryan Cardiff, who played solid defense at 1st base.
Dodgers 13 Red Sox 4
The Dodgers broke open a close game in the 5th with 5 runs. Starring for the boys in blue were Cole Ashburn who had three hits and pitched two strong innings and Brian Buckley, who had two hits, including a key double in the top of the fifth. Alex Barnes executed two perfect sacrifice bunts and scored a run, Jackson Taylor had a hit and scored two runs, and Jesse Longchamps slammed a homerun for the Dodgers. The Red Sox were led by Matt Jorgenson’s 3 effective innings on the mound, and Grant Vogel, who knocked in two with a clutch single.
Angels 11 Giants 5
The Angels trailed 4-1 before breaking loose for 10 runs. Cole Gallagher, Tommy Nimura, Doug Nimura, Max Flower and Andrew McKendell all had big days for the winners. The Giants were led by Gavin Thatcher, Jack Cassidy and Cannon Armistead.
Cardinals 6 A’s 0
Cardinals Ben Lenz, Matt Stanners and Casey Harrington combined for the two-hit shutout. Stanners was 2 for 3 for the winners, who also got clutch hits from Casey Harrington and Christo Collett. The A’s got strong pitching performances from Joey Layshock and Chris Hansen, and solid defense from Chris Mickas and Justin Reilly.
Yankees 6 Giants 1
Defense led the Yankees to victory, highlighted by a first-inning catch by Charlie Rogers and an unassisted double play by Ben Miller to end the game. The Yankees offense was fueled by hits from Will Brueckner, Chris Orozco and Ryan Cardiff and doubles by Devin Regan and Joey Hewitt. Giants Trevor Martinho, Matt Bauer, and Jackson Birdsall starred with the bats.
Angels 11 Cubs 5
The Angels sprinted to an early lead and held off a Cubs comeback. Grant Young pitched two shutout innings, and fellow hurlers Doug Nimura and Max Flower held the Cubs in check. Cole Gallagher led the Angels, going 3 for 3, and Bryan Stone chipped in with a two-run double and a nice running catch in right field. The Cubs were led by Drew Ventrelle who pitched 2 innings and went 3-3 with a run scored, Tommy Henderson, who pitched a shutout inning and had 2 hits and 2 runs scored and Grant Jackson who pitched a shutout inning and hit an RBI triple.
AAA Division, April 13-25
Red Sox 11 A’s 10
The Redsox were led by the pitching and hitting of the brothers DeCool, Nick and Dylan. Nick threw two shutout innings and Dylan, along with AA call-up Garrett Dunn, slammed two hits for the winners. For the Cubs, Timothy Sears and Will Grace each had two hits and threw shutout innings. Aidan McNamara added a shutout inning on the mound for the A’s, throwing only 10 pitches in the frame.
Dodgers 13 Mets 4
Dodgers teammates Drew Wondoloski and Michael D’Amante both had key hits and turned in a defensive gems. Cornel Zamanian and Tyler Ewing turned in scoreless innings on the hill for the winners.
Yankees 15 Giants 7
Dominant pitching carried the day for the Yanks, as starter Kevin McConnell and Colin Fogarty combined to strike out 9 in four innings on the mound. At the plate, the Bronx Bombers got doubles from Grant Smith and Chris Armanino. Matty Vicencio scored three times and scorched one down the right field line for a stand up triple. Nicky Henderson also contributed a hit and 2 RBI. The Giants bats came alive late in the game, with Cole Robertson and Mitch DiRaimondo clubbing two hits a piece. Chris Wright pitched an impressive 1st for the Giants, retiring the Yankees on only 6 pitches.

Mitch DiRaimondo led the Giants to victory, doubling to the wall in centerfield and striking out the side in his stint on the mound. The Giants also played stellar defense, turning in their 4th double play in 3 games.
Cubs 12 Redsox 11
The Cubbies rallied for 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th to beat the Red Sox in a thriller at Cheney Field. Clark Fromer provided the heroics, lashing a 2-run triple, then scoring the winning run himself. Fromer, a catcher, also threw out 3 runners on the base paths. For the Redsox, Matt Clark went 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI.
Yankees 21 A’s 5
The Yankees exploded for 20 hits with Matty Vicencio (single, double and triple), Ben Ross, Justin Plummer, Tomas Martinho and Colin Fogarty all slamming 3 hits a piece. Kyle Bunting went 2 for 2 with 2 doubles and 4 runs scored. Six Yankee pitchers combined to hold the A’s to 4 hits. The A’s got hits from Tim Sears, Paul Griessel, Cameron Burrill and Wayne Hawkins.
Dodgers 12 Marlins 5
Deuces were wild for Michael Everton, who was 2 for 2 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored. Fellow-Dodger Jason Cornell also had 2 hits with 3 RBI's. For the Marlins, Harley McKee ripped a triple and drove in 2 runs.
Angels 8 Mets 7
Nick Price knocked in the winning run for the Angels, who dealt the Mets a tough loss at Cheney Field. Will Rembac who went 2 for 3, with a double and a triple and Michael Green and Jules O’Donnell both had huge game-saving catches in center field. For the Mets, Joey Moran went 2 for 3 at the plate and pitched two dominating innings.
Yankees 13 A’s 5
The Yankees got a bases loaded triple from Matty Vicencio to pull away from the resilient A's. Vicencio had a 3 hit effort, reaching base all 4 times. Kevin McConnell started the game on the mound and pitched 2 scoreless innings while striking out 5. In the first, the hurler threw 10 strikes and no balls out of the zone. The A's got a solid effort on the mound from Willie Grace striking out 3 Yankees in his 2 innings of work. At the plate, Ryan Burnett, Brad Robison, Paul Griessel, Gordon Kerns and Aidan McNamara all had clutch hits.
Cards 16 Giants 8
Cardinal Seppi Ortman went five-for-five for the second time this season and pitched two shutout innings to close the game. Teammate David Severet got three hits, scored three runs and made a diving catch at third with the bases loaded. For the Giants, Michael Nelson had three hits and opened the game by throwing a 10-pitch shutout inning.
Dodgers 14 Mets 5
Drew Wondolowski was 3-4 with 2 RBI, and Dexter Varelmann and Thomas Higgins both had 2 hits and 2 RBI for the winners. The Dodgers also got strong pitching performances from Tyler Ewing and Jason Cornell, who both pitch 2 shutout innings. The Mets had big hits from Joey Moran and Daniel Kim, who also pitched two scoreless innings.
Cubs 9 Cardinals 8
The Cubs rallied to beat their natural rivals in a great game at Upper Community. Connor Yee led the Cubs with 2 hits, including a 2-run triple to spark a late inning surge .The Cubs pitching held the Cardinals scoreless in the 5th and 6th behind shutout innings from Adrian Guzman and Ty Whelehan.The Cardinals were led by Seppe Ortman and Kyle Ashburn, who each were a perfect 3 for 3 at the plate.
A’s 14 Redsox 7
The A's held off a strong comeback by the Red Sox to win by a touchdown. Gordon Kerns led the A’s with 3 three hits and superb defense, robbing Matt Clark of extra bases in the outfield. Aidan McNamara, Chris Gonser and William Grace each contributed 2 hits to the cause. Grace, Tim Sears and Brad Robison all pitched well for the green and gold. For the Redsox, Robby Rowell went 2 for 3 and Gareth Kwok starred on the mound, disposing of the A’s in the 4th on 6 total pitches.
