Three Local Seniors Win ROP Students of Excellence Awards

Three Lamorinda Regional Occupational Program (ROP) students were among 35 high school seniors honored with Students of Excellence Awards by the Contra Costa County Office of Education on May 7 for their outstanding achievement in their ROP classes. Campolindo seniors Mark Ranstrom (ROP Video Production, Instructor Justin Seligman) and Roshan Mahoney (ROP Sports Medicine, Instructor Ray Albiento), and Miramonte senior Mai-Lan Vugia (ROP Advanced Photography, Instructor Susan McCauley) were each awarded a certificate of merit and a $200 scholarship award. ROP focuses on career preparation, hands-on experience, and academic excellence to prepare students for success in college and future careers. The program provides students with state-of-the-art equipment, rigorous academic standards, and classes in emerging technology. The Contra Costa County ROP serves 13,000 students with classes in 31 high schools throughout Contra Costa and Alameda counties.
