| | | | | | Holland McDonald, a fourth grader at Burton Valley Elementary, wanted to help the people of Haiti. "When I first heard about the earthquake in Haiti I didn't think that it did that much damage," Holland explains, "But as the days passed, I learned more about how bad it was so I thought about how I could help, and thought of a bake sale." Her mother had just been gifted a cookie stamper that imprints words on cookies. Holland decided to make "Help for Haiti" cookies. She went to work creating butter cookies with the "Help for Haiti" imprints. She held her bake sale after school on February 18th and sold all of her baked goods, including cupcakes, chocolate chip cookies and brownies, within 30 minutes. Holland raised over $225.00, which she will be donating to the American Red Cross.
