Happy Valley Elementary Wins Odyssey of the Mind Competition

On February 27th, forty nine Happy Valley Elementary students in seven teams participated in the regional Odyssey of the Mind competition. Over 120 Bay Area teams participated in the event. The Happy Valley teams competed in different categories and earned 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th and 9th place honors. Two teams competed at the State championships March 27 in Brentwood, California.
State qualifiers and 1st place winners: Alex Archer (3rd grade), Bianca Chao (3rd), Isabella Chao (3rd), Ryan Kapoor (5th), Tyler Sverak (4th) and Michael Williams (4th).
State qualifiers and 3rd place winners: Samantah Bell (5th), Ann Cain (4th), Cole Cronk (5th), Aneesa Edraki (4th), Amin Edraki (5th), Jonah Kallen (5th), and Katherine Larson (5th).
Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students. Teams apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics, and compete on the local, state, and World level. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from 25 other countries participate in the program.
