| Originally from Guam, an unincorporated territory of the United States in the western Pacific Ocean, Frederick Quichocho, who goes by the nickname "Q," comes to Orinda by way of the Persian Gulf and Iraq. After high school and college, he joined the Army, intending to stay for four years, but served his country for twenty.
At a recent City Council meeting, Officer "Q" was described as a war hero - having served in the Persian Gulf and in Operation Desert Fox. When he retired in 2006 from the service, he came to the Sheriff's Department, and initially worked as a bailiff. Vice Mayor Victoria Smith welcomed him to the city and presented Quichocho a "City of Orinda" pin.
