Published April 13th, 2011
Summer's Coming - What Will Your Kids Be Doing?
Photos provided

Sleep-away camp. The very phrase sends thrills ofexcitement through some kids, while in others it instillsfear. Think back...chances are you fell intoone of these categories yourself. There are many optionsin California and beyond for Lamorinda's young, adventurousspirits; but some kids are home-bodies, preferringto spend their days , and nights, in familiar surroundings- nothing wrong with that, and we can only hope they'llstill feel that way when we are old and waiting for themto come visit! Right here in Lamorinda are sleep-awaycamps that may help bridge that gap - away from home, yet just down the street.
Seems like kids have never had as many choices asthey do now. Maybe you are just looking for a week hereand there to broaden your child's horizons - give them anopportunity to learn something new, have an adventure, take a hike...you may find just what you're looking forin our annual Summer Camp Guide (our Full Day Camp Guide appeared in our March 16 issue:
www.lamorindaweekly.com/archive/issue0501/read.html.)If your child's summer plans include sleeping in ordays filled with swim team, the half-day camps and classes in this issue will give those water-wrinkled fingers a chance to dry outand might even convince sleepy-head to get up and try something new!
