Aquanuts Host National Championship, Win Events

The most prestigious synchronized swimming competition in the nation took place April 1-4 at the Soda Aquatic Center in Moraga. Over 350 athletes from all over the US, Canada and Puerto Rico traveled to the East Bay for the week-long competition, held here for the first time in 20 years. The USA Synchro event was co-hosted by the Walnut Creek Aquanuts and the Santa Clara Aquamaids and covered three championships: the U.S Senior National Championships, the U.S. Junior National Championships and the 13/15 National Championships.
The Walnut Creek Aquanuts stunned the audience and earned gold in the combo free (82.1667 points). The team is made up of athletes from Lamorinda, including Gillian Brassil (Moraga), Johanna Langner (Lafayette), and Dorai Torba (Orinda).
For the Junior Championships, WCA earned second place in the Junior High Point Team competition. Brassil received second place in the Junior Individual High Point. In the Duet, Walnut Creek swimmers won silver and bronze, with Brassil and Wiita finishing second (76.9000), and Drury and Langner, taking third (75.8333).
