Kids will have to wait a bit longer for a chance to play at The Leigh Creekside Park.
After much discussion, and more public input at the March 14 meeting, the City Council decided to send the improvement plans back to the Parks, Trails and Recreation Commission to "make it better in an affordable way" and further refine plans so that the cost could be reduced by about half to $500,000 or less.
With a goal of balancing natural features and active kids play areas, over 20 public meetings were held about the Leigh Creekside Park Improvement Plan; the initial objective was to provide kids a variety of active options, in the now very quiet neighborhood park.
At barely half an acre, the small gem of a park on Moraga Boulevard came to life when the city bought the property from the Leigh family estate after neighbors submitted a petition with 105 signatures supporting the purchase.
