Stanley Middle School Jazz Ensemble ties for second best in the nation

The Stanley Middle School Jazz Messengers have tied for second best middle school jazz band in the nation and were recognized at a recent city council meeting, when Lafayette Mayor Mike Anderson proclaimed May 22 to be Stanley Jazz Messengers Day in the city.

City council members, city staff and members of the public were treated to a standout performance from the jazz band under the direction of Middle School Music Director Bob Athayde, Anderson gave each member of the band a proclamation and said that Lafayette is very proud of the band's achievement.
