After this intense year of the pandemic, California Academy of Performing Arts returns to the stage Dec. 2-5 with its beloved "Nutcracker" performance at the Campolindo Performing Arts Center.
"The students (ages 6-18) have been working hard to prepare and are so excited to once again perform The Nutcracker in front of a live audience," said Stacey Yuen, teacher and assistant manager at California Academy of Performing Arts (CAPA). "We filmed last year's 2020 Nutcracker in studio in small groups and then edited the whole thing together; everyone masked and separated. This year we are so excited to bring back our Nutcracker, all dancers and audience members masked."
Dance Captain, Sydney Reed, a senior at Campolindo High School, said, "Embracing the thrill of performing again is experiencing the liberation and adrenaline I felt as a young kid running on stage for the first time. This past year has provided me with the opportunity to further my appreciation for the stage, storytelling and touching the hearts of those around us."
