| | May 13, 1931 - Nov. 13, 2022 | | | | | | Leonard Oliver Walde, Jr., born May 13, 1931, the beloved husband of Mary Jane Walde, passed away peacefully in his home in Rancho Mirage, California Nov. 13, 2022. He was the loving father of his only son, Mark Leonard Walde, and his granddaughters Amanda Kaye Anderson and Alyssa Ann Walde, and his great grandchildren, Thatcher Milton and Mac Leonard Anderson with their father Todd, and daughter In Law Debbie Ann Walde.
Leonard was born in New Berlin New York and was the only son along with his three sisters of his father Leonard Oliver Walde Sr., and Mother Laura Walde. He joins his parents and sisters Efe and Jacquelin in heaven. His youngest sister Sue resides in Culebra, Puerto Rico.
Leonard was honorably discharged from the Army after serving with the Kryptonics Unit in Germany during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. He attended University of Rhode Island in 1950 and graduated with a BS in Industrial Engineering in 1955 after his service while meeting his wife Mary Jane whom he married in 1956. Leonard received his MBA from Saint Mary's College in Moraga in the 1970's and served as a Professor of Creative Problem Solving at John F. Kennedy University, in Orinda.
Leonard was an environmentalist, forming his company Sigma Energy Enterprises, after his time at Safeway in Oakland. During his later years, he was an avid gardener, growing champion roses and vegetables on his hillside garden in Orinda. He was also a serious health advocate, striving to avoid pharmaceuticals while pursuing natural remedies whenever possible.
Leonard was proud of Orinda, residing in the home they built on Spring Road for over 60 years. He was a loving family man, mentor and friend to many in the East Bay Area. He will be greatly missed by all.
Leonard's Military Honors Service will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 1 at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Dixon, California. |
